Beautiful Unity

The needle pierces thimble

The woman, callus thick, barely winces at the bleed

The scarf is dyed red

It suits the cloth

The apparel is gifted to a red cheeked grandson

Who wraps the azure touch of care to his neck

She wears gone before his gift

And in the end the memory of her

Brings far more comfort than any warmth of flesh

He helps the gravedigger with the barrow when the time comes

And the boys sweat melds with what is left of her

Beautiful unity
